Happy Teachers’ Day

“One of the very important characteristics of a student is to question. Let the students ask questions.”

Dear Parents,

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day we join your hands to acknowledge the contribution of teachers in our life. Though we come across many teachers in our life but we seldom find a teacher who leaves indelible and distinctive footprints in our minds whose thoughts, actions and wonderful deeds become the benchmark for the entire life. However there are only a few who reach to such heights that the entire nation recognizes them as their teachers.

5th September is one such day which is celebrated in the fond memory of Bharat Ratna, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India. He was such a scholarly character and statesman whose wisdom got acknowledged across the world. Contrary to this his simplicity was such that students from any corner of the country could approach him for their motivation. We owe our gratitude to him and reaffirm the contribution of teachers in the building of nation.

In this league we have a few more jewels such as: Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Anand Kumar who are iconic figures, standing very tall among the millions of teachers engaged in this profession. Here it would be appropriate to quote an instance from the life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President of India who is also known for his love for the students, died while talking to the students at IIM Shillong. According to him, “One of the very important characteristics of a student is to question. Let the students ask questions.”

Teachers inspire and teach us many valuable lessons for life. They generate a special bond between a teacher and a taught. As one bestows knowledge and the other seeks guidance and this is the only reason behind this sacred relation. The best teacher doesn’t give answers; he sparks within us the desire to find answers by ourselves.

In fact this is a very silent process and we do not know from which school the future presidents, Prime Ministers, leaders, writers, scientists, technocrats or social reformers will come from. We remain ignorant about such wonderful teachers unless their children shine like stars. Therefore it would be true to admit that teaching is the greatest profession of all. We have seen many great teachers in the past like Swami Vivekananda who influenced the whole world. His teachings are an inspiration for the youth of all times. Chanakya, who was a professor at Taxila University is still known for his wisdom and unfailing strategies. It is universally acknowledged that a country prospers only when it nurtures good schools of thoughts and gives its due respect to this profession.

From JGS family we request you to discuss with your children at the dining table about the teachers’ esteem and motivate them to value the learning that goes lifelong even after the school days.

Yours sincerely,

Team JGS
